Granny Chic at Beyond Retro

granny4

Here are the pictures of our most recent theme at Beyond Retro. Granny Chic was inspired by all those wonderfully stylish older, but no less fabulous, ladies out there.

You constantly inspire us and it seems we are not the only ones as Advanced style has hit the catwalks for the recent fall 2012 shows too.

I have been busy busy over the last few weeks making these knitting needle hats and more importantly my two life size poodle friends.

The poodles where all my own handy work and are made from 100% recycled materials, mostly old jumpers but can you spot the Christmas baubals?

I have become very attached to little couple and was so proud to finally get them in the windows at the Dalston store.

    1. Thank you darling! My Granny inspires me everyday, she is an amazing woman. Her style has always been imppecable and I blame her for my vintage hoarding problem. One day we too will be Grannys with show stopping style. :) xx

  3. I wish I had your artistic ability, Kelly-Marie. You have a knack for gathering raw materials and fashioning them into interesting, attractive and whimsical display pieces. I especially love those poodles. Our Shady Dell turns 100 this year and her extreme makeover has finally been completed. The grand unveiling is tomorrow morning on my blog I hope you'll come over and take a look. Have a terrific week, dear friend!

    1. Aww thanks Ben, we do work so hard on the ideas, displays and props and it's always such a whirl wind because they are only ever up for three weeks! It makes it all worth while when we get lovely comments like yours. So happy you like it, I really value your opinion.
That mannequin is my favourite too, when I was dressing them it was still really cold but she's the only one that seems weather appropriate now. x

  5. Well done on another amazing window theme Kelly-Marie! Those knitting needle wool pieces are incredible. I really hope everyone who admires the windows can appreciate the amount of time and effort it took to make the props! Your poodles are too cute, I hope they have names! I have to say Granny Chic is one of my favourite styles to wear, especially when taking inspiration from my stylish granny!

Hope you had a great weekend!

    1. Thank you Emma. I was calling them Lady and the Tramp but I need to give them proper names. If you take after your Granny then I can only imagine that she is a very beautiful and stylish lady.
Hope you have a lovely week. xx

  6. Aww this is the bees knees! I love it! You are wonderful! :) The poodles are brilliant! You are so talented! Are you making a nice portfolio of all your windows? These pictures you post are all so great, I hope you are! I can't wait to be in London again and see you and your windows in person! (we are possibly coming down in June btw, me and my fella! But it all depends on a friend of ours! I hope it is at a time when you and your fella are free so we can go for a wee drink or something!) I would demand to speak to the manager to tell them how amazing their VM was! teehee :) Have an amazing week lovely one Zoë xxx

  7. Love the poodles, Kelly-Marie - your windows are works of art! Must be such an ephemeral joy as the displays are up and down so regularly, but I hope your home is a treasure-trove of 'recycled' poodles, cardboard clocks and pastel-painted baby dolls :-)

I'm not often driven to post comments on blogs but I just wanted to say how much I enjoy yours - your creativity and vintage style have such charm.

    xx

    1. Thank you so much, it means so much to me that you took the time to comment.
I am so happy you like it, especially because I can see you have wonderful taste. Your music is so beautiful and I love all the imagery you surround it with.
Ha ha no I actually havent taken any of the props home with me yet, but I think I might have to re-home the poodles. My work space is a sight to be seen, it often catches me and makes me laugh out loud, especially at Christmas with all those babies. I can never say my job is boring, that's for sure.

  11. Fabulous as always! And a great theme - grannies are always an inspiration! I have a dress which my boyfriend calls "the granny dress", meaning it in a bad way, but to me it's a brilliant compliment. Bought from Beyond Retro, naturally.

Love the wee dogs, by the way. And that pastel pink cardigan - so sweet! Love it combined with the shirt and trousers too - that's a totally wearable outfit, and hopefully I'd get an approving smile off a few grannies as I went about my way.
